I would like to share two situations involving Mrs. Yand that really made an impact on me as a fellow coworker. One night Mrs. Yand was assigned a patient with dementia who really needed one-on-one care. This patient was abusive and spewing hateful words to our staff. Mrs. Yand not only held her composure, she frequently tended to the patient's every need and reoriented her more times than I can count. All throughout the night, Mrs. Yand had advocated for her patient with our medical providers ensuring she was receiving the best care possible.

When the patient struck several of the staff that night, Mrs. Yand was able to not only calm and support her fellow staff, she was able to calm the patient in such a beautiful manner it was just jaw-dropping. I really do not know how she was able to maintain her calmness/composure while being treated in such an awful manner. It's nurses like her that even under the worst of circumstances shine bright and I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her that night.

In the second situation, I had come onto shift and was switched to the charge nurse position. I had a patient requiring a blood transfusion right at shift change and one patient arriving from the ED at the same time. Mrs. Yand without me having to ask for help jumped at the opportunity to help me. She landed my patient, conducted all admission paperwork, and ultimately ended up taking that patient for the rest of the night. Her willingness to help her fellow staff is unmatched.

There are several other situations where Mrs. Yand has stood out amongst her fellow nurses and these two situations are only a snapshot of the phenomenal care she provides to her patients and fellow staff. It is such an honor to work with you Mrs. Yand.
