Nurse Hoyt has always been kind and patient with all his patients. But one instance that stands out the most is when he helped a patient get calm and made him laugh before accessing his part for an infusion. Hoyt went above and beyond.
The particular day I speak of was a regular Tuesday and one of his regular patients. You see this particular patient comes in for weekly infusions and was uneased for his port getting descended. The patient's mom tried calming him down but nothing worked. Then Hoyt being his regular calm self, remembered that patient loved Batman and has a custom made mask with him. The mask was made at another institution by the mother. Well, Hoyt remembered how much this patient loved using his own mask so he calmed the patient down by using his soothing voice and recommending the patient wear his mask. This immediately calmed him down but Hoyt could see he was still nervous. So Hoyt asked the patient to help him. He involved the patient in the process and this made him feel involved in his own health and infusion. I truly hope Hoyt receives this award as he has shown all his patients love, respect, and given them the best care here.
