This DAISY nominator
– a patient who had battled breast cancer
and was in the hospital for reconstructive
surgery – admitted that she had become a
bit hardened during her breast cancer battle.
One of her nurses, Jackie Lobach, reminded
her what true compassion looks like. Going
into surgery, Jackie held the patient’s hand
while she lay on the stretcher, having her
IV started. “Nurse Jackie gave me back the
feeling of someone caring for you and going
out of their way, even if they don’t know you,
because that’s the kind of person they are,” the
nominator said. Jackie is being recognized for
showing strength, compassion and a true kind
heart for those who need her most.
