Jaime has poured her heart into this hospital since day one. She has been someone who cares for every patient as if they were her own family. In her navigator role, she oversees all oncology patients throughout the hospital. There have been countless times she has given patients, family members and staff her cell phone number in order to contact her even when she is off the clock. She understands the depths of someone being newly diagnosed or deciding it is time to become comfortable. I have witnessed her in rooms holding patients as they cry, standing strong with families and making sure all our oncology patients feel comfort and compassion as they are here. Jaime is always one to stay late and make sure a patient understands their chemotherapy or the process that is about to begin. Jaime is only one person, yet she finds a way to make all these patients feel like they are the only patient in this hospital. Many times, working on the same floor as her, I hear from countless patients how "wonderful she is" or "how much she has helped them through this process". Jaime is always looking for new ways to make our patients more comfortable and to have new and up to date resources available to them. When Jaime isn't helping a patient through their process of cancer, she is in with nurses helping them to further their learning, understand a new chemotherapy regime, help them further their oncology credentials, teaching, or just being another face to help out on the floor. Jaime makes sure the oncology nurses know she is always available and someone we can all count on.
