October 2024 Honoree
Jaimol Mathew, RN
Mum had sepsis and was critical in constant agony - and delirium. She has underlying health issues, so very ill. Jaimol had the patience of a saint, providing compassion, comfort, and medical care. A day or two into her recovery, she developed fluid in her lungs and other complications- she was vomiting bile, and the doctor had said to call the nurse if anything happened as all the drugs had been changed. I was calling for help. She escalated her vomiting bile to bring a registrar one of the nights that she was critical- and ensured that we got the help we needed. Mum was in chronic pain and distress, and Jaimol was so diligent with monitoring her vitals, bowel movements, and pain management - and treated her with compassion and dignity no matter how many times she was called. She cares and is excellent at her job.
Thank you, Jaimol, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
