I have had the honor of working with Jamie for the past 3 years. She is a patient advocate/nurse ninja. She may be petite, but if she can get a patient the right meds or bring them into the acute rehab and there is a barrier to the patient needing what is best for them, she will get the patient where they belong. Sometimes it is just giving the family support.
She occasionally volunteers in the community at the schools on various medical topics. She is a mentor to all nurses. She has a presence that draws people to her, whether it be the housekeepers or the random patient that stumbles into her office. Many times I see her visiting and talking with a patient as she cuts their hair, helping them maintain pride and dignity while in a hospital setting.
