As I was performing leader rounding I learned that recovery room nurse Jan Keller made a big difference for a patient who had to have an emergency ectopic pregnancy surgery. This patient said she was deeply touched and greatly appreciated the way Jan spoke to her and cared for her before surgery.

The patient stated, “I was very scared and having a difficult time. Jan held my hand and gave me encouragement when I needed it most. She treated me as a human being and I will never forget her compassion and empathy.”

As Jan’s nurse manager, I can attest that Jan does a wonderful job of connecting with her patients. I often observe her giving them her undivided and focused attention with a soothing voice and excellent eye contact. She safely and peacefully guides her patients through their immediate recovery care. She is passionate about wellness and relaxation techniques and I believe our patients and team members often benefit from interactions with this wonderful nurse.
