I am speaking out as the wife and patient advocate for my husband. He has been in and out of Banner Heart multiple times in December and January. He had a sweet nurse, Janae, for a couple of days. He has multiple myeloma and developed a painful blood clot. After angiogram/angioplasty, he was diagnosed with an infected hematoma. He needed a PICC line and fasciotomy. We were confused, frustrated as to what comes next. I was amazed at her caring and compassion. Janae actually sat beside my husband on his bed to explain procedures. She took the time to really listen. Her knowledge was awesome and very comforting. As for me, the wife, the caregiver, I had many questions regarding homecare. She shared regarding her mother's passing and all the courage and strength she needed, then she looked at me and said "... you can do this!! You are strong and very focused on details." It was like she was looking into my inner self!! Wow!! As the children's book entitled, I Think I can, I will try to be like the little train and just "chug up that hill" with confidence thanks to this nurse. She is truly extraordinary, has the biggest heart and has touched my life forever. She goes above and beyond. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
