Jane took care of a patient who found herself in unfortunate circumstances. She came in as a trauma patient, went to the O.R., then landed in Jane's care. This patient had undergone a scalp laceration repair and her shoulder length hair was caked with dried, clotted, matted blood. Over a two hour time period, Jane repeatedly washed, rinsed and combed clots out of her hair, all the while talking to her in a relaxed, friendly, respectful manner. She towel-dried and combed her hair to her liking. She was very grateful. Jane displayed the true servant heart of a nurse that day. She treated a woman who may have been easily judged because of her lifestyle choices with the ultimate compassion and respect. Jane constantly provides exceptional care to all her patients.
