Jackie takes the time to consider all of her patient’s needs. While charging our unit, she pulled me into one of my patient’s rooms. There, she identified that the patient had complaints of shortness of breath. Jackie really wanted to explore the cause of the patient’s symptoms. The patient stated he was so grateful that Jackie took the time to really listen to him. She had discovered that he was not taking several of his home medications while in the hospital. She promptly called the MD to get them restarted. She made sure to follow through with this patient as she does with many of her other patients. The patient spoke about how grateful he was for her care even on the next day.
