Jayne is one of the most caring nurses I have ever worked with. She goes above and beyond for all the patients that she cares for. I witnessed Jayne advocating for patients on multiple instances. One situation that really stands out to me was with a patient at the end-of-life. Caring for patients in their final moments can be emotionally exhausting, but when you care for kids, it multiplies the emotions tenfold. Jayne was caring for a young girl who had lost her long battle with cancer, and was not going to survive the day. The health care team in the pediatric ICU was not all on the same page. Jayne led the group and fought for her patient and what was best for her. Jayne stood up to multiple physicians and advocated for her patient's needs. Jayne did the right thing for that girl and her grieving momma. She was a trustworthy and supportive nurse who established a special connection with this sweet girl and her mom. I know that in the spirit of The DAISY Award, Jayne exemplifies the care and compassion that all our patients deserve to receive.
