Jazelle is an amazing ICU nurse not only for her excellent patient care but for her compassion in dealing with the family of a patient during a difficult time. My grandfather was in the ICU for 33 days and Jazelle was his nurse for many of the days. She was a beacon of hope for my family. She took the time to learn everyone's name and was a rock of support for my grandmother who was very emotional during this time. She explained things in ways everyone could understand and never tired of answering questions. The final chapter of our story was the night my grandfather passed away. My grandmother was pacing the hallway trying to come to terms with the fact she was losing her partner of 65 years. It was just after 0700 so it was shift change. Jazelle worked in a different part of the ICU that night and stopped to talk to us. Upon learning my grandfather was in his final hours, she sat with my grandmother in the hallway and helped explain what was happening and then asked if she could come sit in my grandfather's room with our family. After working a 12 hour shift, she chose to stay at work for over an hour to spend time comforting my family. We will never forget her.
