Mrs. Botz routinely takes on a leadership role for nurses in our VA system. In addition to her committed volunteer work with Retrouvaille (an international non-profit marriage counseling program) that has led her all over the world, she is also active right here in the Tampa Bay area, with continued contributions to the arts, spiritual assistance, and career guidance. She frequently mentors new nurse practitioners, as well as provides practicum preceptorship to nurse practitioner students. In the role of a psychiatric nurse practitioner, it is often difficult to maintain a good attitude when we are inundated with traumatic stories and tragedies on a daily basis. Yet Jeanne exhibits the utmost in positive energy, providing her patients with an optimistic outlook on life and encouragement to continue in mental health treatment. Besides the countless lives she has saved, marriages she has helped repair, and broken hearts she has mended, personally, she has encouraged me to continue on in my education and she is one of the main reasons I am in school for my DNP.
