Jenifer knew when to push A harder and when he needed a gentle voice of encouragement.
To say A was apprehensive about being admitted to the hospital again would be an understatement. Honestly, he had a little PTSD from the isolation of a previous hospitalization. However, he was greeted by Jenifer within 5 minutes of being on Rehab. She was very welcoming and shared what to expect in Rehab. Dr. B arrived within a few minutes to do a wound debridement.
Jenifer was very knowledgeable about dressing changes and I think this helped to relieve some of his fears. Throughout the visit, she could sense when he became uneasy and she always took the time to explain the plan/care. She treated him with dignity and respect; like he was the decision-maker. Although this sounds simple, that was a huge deal to a 20-year-old who felt like he lost all independence. Jenifer knew when to push A harder and when he needed a gentle voice of encouragement. I will forever be grateful for the trusting relationship she took the time to cultivate, it made a huge difference.
