Often times leaders are the last to get recognized for the hard work they do. Jennifer has exemplified what a true leader is about. She is on top of her staffing vacancies and ensures that she is constantly hiring to fill those vacancies. When there is a shortage, she has come in during the night to help the staff, so they were not overworked. She holds her teammates accountable and does so with a smile and in a kind voice. Sometimes in health care, we have challenging patients, and the teammates are disgruntled about a difficult patient. Jennifer listens attentively through active listening to assure the teammates that she is hearing them but then explains to them in a friendly tone why the patient needs us at this time. She promotes an environment where teammates can go to her to discuss their concerns and share ideas. Recently, the AVP conducted a skip meeting on the unit, everyone had the same thing to say about Jennifer, she is fair, she listens, and she holds all accountable.
