I have come to know Bayshore Hospital in a supportive role over the last 5 years, with elderly grandparents as frequent visitors. We have made some memorable friends with the nurses we have met along the way. It is always a comforting feeling when you see a familiar face and know that your loved one is going to be cared for with such dignity and genuine care.

In recent days, I turned from a supportive role to patient! Coming in with a difficult brain issue, I was at the mercy of Bayshore’s care, which gave me comfort. When I got settled in my room in 2N, this bubbly ray of sunshine came in named Jenn. My mother quickly realized that this was the same Jenn who took such amazing care of my grandmother a few months back, who has dementia and special needs. Jenn recalled both my mother and Grandmother right away! After all the people she sees, I found that incredible that she remembered!

She was so attentive to my needs, but I was most impressed by her genuine care of my elderly roommate with dementia-like qualities. She took such an interest to connect on the patient's level. While feeding her, Jenn was playful and engaging in a way that encouraged interaction from the patient that I didn’t see anyone else in that way. She really went above and beyond, which tells me that Jenn was made to be a nurse. Thank you Jenn for everything you did, and for what you will do in the future. You are amazing!
