As an inmate at the Maine State Prison for some years, I have grown accustomed to good people erecting barriers when dealing with me and other inmates. Miss Jennifer Lavi treated me at all times with open courtesy and respect without hesitation, like a patient. Like a person. She made me feel welcomed and valued, that my opinions had merit. She always responded to my call quickly and with a smile that couldn't be hidden by her mask. In a world that has at times treated me cruelly, during a time that has been rather unpleasant, Miss Lavi made me feel good, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
