Jennifer Lightcap has been with Cerner for 10 years and formed countless relationships across most organizations across the company. Her passion for nursing and for our clients is unmatched and her drive to ensure all clients have what they need is relentless. She partnered with another associate to develop a rehab solution suitable for her multi-tenant client needs. She drives and supports many projects for her stakeholders and is a key relationship owner for several strategic partnerships.

Jennifer led the project for the development of a multi-tenant workflow for mass vaccination for COVID and flu vaccine in late 2020 prior to vaccine rollout. This workflow is used across ASP and CommunityWorks client domains which encompass nearly 1500 clients across the U.S. Her clinical, workflow, and system knowledge was critical to the success of this project.

The mass vaccine workflow is only one example of her clinical leadership creating success for our clients. She repeatedly delivers high-quality workflow and processes for our clients that put the client's needs first. Jennifer exemplifies Cerner's mission and vision on a daily basis. Her passion is to ensure a clinical voice is involved in everything we do in the multi-tenant/shared client domains, including Ambulatory (PWx), Workforce Health Services, and Continuum. Clinicians speak one language and technical analysts speak another. Fortunately for the ClientWorks Clinical Excellence Team, we have Jennifer Lightcap who is fluent in both “Nurse” and “Techno” speak. Jen is consistently going above and beyond the call of duty as she not only functions as a clinical expert, but she is the go-to person for clinical workflow issues, troubleshooting, and questions regarding build, enhancement requests, training and client escalations. Her strong nursing experience makes communication between our solution experts and clients much smoother, more efficient, and more accurate.

As an example, when we realized the packaged Outpatient Rehab content was not going to work in the Ambulatory ASP market, she set out to coordinate efforts across Cerner experts and our pilot client to create a clinically appropriate workflow that offered the most efficient process to meet the needs of this unique client base. Due to her diligence and willingness to think outside the box, we were able to retain this client when they were considering switching to another vendor. Jen is one of the best at engaging and collaborating with clients and specifically as a clinician and patient advocate across all of our client groups.

Jen's expertise within the numerous client domains supported by ClientWorks allows her to clearly explain functionality, enhancements, and technical limitations to clients and associates so the most clinically relevant workflows and content are delivered to our client base. I have received feedback from several clients regarding the value she adds by engaging directly with clinicians to evaluate workflows, and discuss upcoming roadmap and optimization projects.

Using her clinical and product knowledge she is able to drive conversations with clients and stakeholders that build trust and confidence in the shared tenant model and ensure they feel their voice is being heard. One key example was her participation in the ASP Ambulatory Client Care Summit.

A comment from the Director Ambulatory ASP sums up her contribution well, "Jennifer took the opportunity to convey to clients the way that clinicians are involved in making strategic decisions about the ASP Clinical Solutions. I think she really connected well with the participants, and she has also volunteered to have follow-up conversations with one of the clients on their primary pain points."

Jen goes above and beyond to come prepared, provide follow-up where appropriate and drive the engagement process to ensure the highest quality product is delivered to the client. I have received lots of feedback from our stakeholders and clients regarding Jen's dedication and how it has truly made a positive experience for our clients, clinicians, and associates. Jen is the go-to person for all clinical questions and can also couple that skill with the ability to go deep into the building of knowledge as well. She can be pulled into about any conversation and successfully turn an uncomfortable client conversation into a positive experience!
