He took the time to find common ground and developed trust between him and my son. He treated my son with nothing but absolute respect and offered support and guidance during our most vulnerable moments.
I recently brought my son into the Emergency Department for a psych evaluation. He was having some hallucinations and erratic thoughts and was extremely manic. Ultimately, he was diagnosed with Type I Bipolar Disorder. The triage nurse and night nurse were friendly and settled us into a room where we waited for several hours. At change of shift, Jeremiah came in and introduced himself. He then proceeded to spend the next 30-40 minutes getting to know my son. Really getting to know him as a person and not just another patient. He took the time to find common ground and developed trust between him and my son. He treated my son with nothing but absolute respect and offered support and guidance during our most vulnerable moments. When my son found out he was being admitted to Behavioral Health, he broke down in hysterics. He was afraid. He then became extremely agitated and started to get slightly aggressive. Jeremiah came in and was able to calm him down. He provided a level of compassion and support I had not expected. It truly felt like we had a friend with us. This is only one example of Jeremiah's benevolence as he displayed many more. I was absolutely blown away by Jeremiah's kindness, compassion, and expertise. Being in healthcare myself, I understand how busy team members are. Jeremiah provided us with a level of care that I know he shows to every single one of his patients. He was a light in one of my darkest moments, and I will never forget his sympathy and kindness. The kind of nurse I'd like to be when I "grow up", and I think these qualities in a nurse deserve appreciation as they are not universally found.
