My dad's nurse, Jesse, was exceptional at meeting not only his physical needs but also his emotional needs. My father was visiting from Nebraska and was admitted for chest pain/SOB. Obviously, being in a non-familiar hospital in another state, my father, was terrified and had anxiety regarding his condition.
Jesse connected with him on a level that immediately eased his anxiety. My dad is on an extensive number of meds at varied times and Jesse truly was the first person that listened to my dad, how he does his meds, as he is very aware of his med schedule, and made sure he had his meds on time.
In addition, Jesse took the time to truly connect with my dad and learn about him. He let my dad tell him about farming and took an interest in that, to ease my father's anxiety over this situation. My husband and I are both nurse leaders and I can say that Jesse has a true gift and goes above and beyond in order to provide excellent patient care and make a difference.
