Jessica Ahern is not only a talented, competent nurse; she has been a source of inspiration and motivation for my son during his stay in the critical care unit at Methodist Hospital. My son and Jessica have a special connection. This connection goes far beyond a typical nurse-patient relationship. Her encouragement is one reason for his continued positive progress. In addition to the excellent care provided to my son, Jessica cares for our family and treats us like we are a part of her family. Although my son has a long journey ahead of him, the support and compassion demonstrated by Jessica reminds my son and our family that we are not alone in this fight. For these reasons we would like to recognize and nominate Jessica Ahern for the DAISY Award.
