Jessica has gone above and beyond with a patient and family. The patient was brought in to ER and ended up on comfort cares, later passing in our department. At the request of the family, they wished to stay in the ER, so Jessica cared for the patient and family for 10+ hours. The next day I was working and the husband of the deceased had called with questions and needed someone to talk to. Jessica stepped up and had at least a 10-minute conversation with the husband, offering comfort to him.
I believe it was two days later that again the husband called the ER and again Jessica took the call. She offered so much comfort to this husband it brought me to tears. The husband asked Jessica to accompany him to the gravesite because he did not want to go alone nor go with his family. She did meet the husband the following day on her day off to follow through with this request. She needs to be recognized for going way above and beyond with not only the patient but the family as well. She did not have to take personal time or even the time during work to accept the phone calls. Great job!
