I brought my son to the ER Tuesday afternoon. He was seeking help and rehabilitation for his alcoholism. She was so good to him. No judgment, only smiles, and understanding. As the evening went on, he became more and more anxious like a rat trapped in a cage. Until the point where he ripped out his own IVs, punched the wall and took off walking in only a hoodie and it was 3° outside. She allowed me to stay in the room, and I prayed that he would return. His phone was turned off, but I called and texted nonstop. Finally, he called me and he was 3 miles away. She allowed me to go get him and bring him back and keep the process going. At that point, he was very fragile, and he started confronting her about the paperwork. She was very calm and she was the reason the room was calm. When she stepped out he immediately felt bad about speaking to her the way he did, he signed the papers and he apologized to her. She could have thrown up her hands and said I'm not dealing with this, but she wanted to help him get clean and sober. He was admitted to a facility for detox. Jill was calm cool and collected and that's what made everything happen.
She is an amazing nurse, and she very well may have saved my son's life. Thank you Jill Huseman RN, you need to KNOW how valuable you are to your patient population!
