I would like to thank Jill Toelke for her compassionate care for my daughter, husband, and myself during my daughter's time spent in the ER. We brought our daughter into the ER for her violent behavior. Many FHN staff members assisted with helping us get her into the building and a room. Our daughter was out of control and simply freaking out, partially out of fear. The nurse on our daughter's case was unable to calm her despite several attempts.
Jill Toelke was working this day and saw us come in with our daughter. We know Jill personally so after several failed attempts to calm our daughter, Jill asked my husband and me if we thought our daughter might respond better to a familiar face. My husband and I both gave Jill permission to try to help calm our daughter; she did!
Jill entered the room when our daughter was standing on the bed pacing back and forth and freaking out. Through patience and understanding and genuine caring, Jill was able to talk our daughter down off the bed. Once down off the bed, Jill came down to our daughter's level and related to her in a way that was awe-inspiring. Once our daughter was calmed down, then she was willing to let the staff help her and was cooperative. It was Jill's patience, understanding, and gentle approach that helped our daughter and my husband and me through literally the worst day of our lives.
We will be forever grateful for Jill. She showed her FHN PRIDE at its finest. Jill is a true asset to FHN and she is doing what she was made to do.
