Jincy Joseph, BSN, RN has been a critical care nurse for the last 15 years; the last 10 of these, she has been working as charge nurse in the Medical ICU. She is a role model for compassion and exemplary practice. She has been a mentor to numerous nurses building and encouraging excellent teamwork and critical thinking skills. Jincy’s calming demeanor and excellent nursing skills make her highly respected by patients and colleagues all around the hospital. Her confidence allows her to remain cool, calm, and collected in the turbulent environment of the ICU.

Her calm character was tested when she was faced with the increased strain of the COVID-19 pandemic. She proved to be a frontline warrior providing care and giving emotional support to her patients as she became a substitute for their absent family members. Jincy could be seen titrating medications, assisting patients to sit up, giving oxygen as ordered, encouraging them to cough and deep breathe, putting patients in a prone position, providing ventilator care, holding the hands of dying patients, giving respectful post-mortem care, and assisting as needed in the surge ICU units. Jincy demonstrates daily Woodhull ICARE values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.
