While we all try to give residents time to be heard, Joe will put aside everything else to make sure this happens.
Joe Abrego is always going above and beyond his call for service for his residence. I do not remember the particular dates, but I am going to provide a couple of specific examples. We had a lady that suffered with some extreme anxiety, and she took a lot of time to calm down when worked up. Even though Joe had medications to give, and a lot of his own work, he noticed that this resident was worked up. He proceeded to sit in her room, listening, consoling and comforting her for almost 45 minutes. While this may not seem like long, this took a lot of time out of his work day to be patient with this resident. He then proceeded back to his work right where he left off. He put himself behind on his normal schedule to make one person's day that much better. I am happy to say that this is not the only time that he has done something like this. Another prime example of the extraordinary care he provides is another similar situation. We had a resident that was restless while out doing his normal med pass. Seeing that he was restless, Joe went and sat on the bed next to him and talked with him. He again listened, consoled and comforted the resident. He redirected the resident back to bed, but only once the resident had peace of mind and was comforted. One last example - while doing the assessment, he noted the resident had very sensitive skin from his conversation with them. He then went on his lunch break and got the resident some sensitive soap since we were out in the building. This was not something he had to do, but he chose to do it. Joe is not your typical nurse. While we all try to give residents time to be heard, Joe will put aside everything else to make sure this happens. He always comes to work with a smile on his face and a positive outlook on the day. No matter what type of day he is having, what type of shift he is having, he continues to give his all to the residents and his fellow staff. While I have more examples that I could use, because they are truly never ending with him, I could not possibly list them all.
