Johanna has been a caring and kind nurse to me and my baby. She has always been very attentive and was immediately present when we needed her. She was also prompt in bringing what we needed or requested. Johanna even anticipated what we would need before we asked. I would image the way she cares for her patients is the way she is towards her family and friends - very natural and sincere.
Johanna knows her job well. All my questions were answered and I trusted her and felt safe under her care. And if it was something beyond her knowledge, she knew to refer me to the doctor or came back with an accurate answer.
I would never forget Johanna. She was going on her break and she was volunteered to watch over my awake baby so I could sleep even for a bit. She didn't need to do it; she simply went the "extra mile". She deserves the recognition, she's exceptional.
***
Johanna transferred from 2 South to the Mother Baby Unit a little over a year ago. She was the last acute care transfer RN that came into the department without going through the entire TIPS program. This meant that she had a lot less classroom time than current transfers receive, and she had to do a lot of her learning independently. She borrowed an OB book and set to mastering a new area. She has done an excellent job of transitioning to a Mother Baby Unit nurse. I think the move has been a good one for her as she always has a smile on her face when I see her or check in with her.
Johanna brings a kind, calm, patient demeanor and a detail-oriented focus to the unit. She is organized and efficiently manages any assignment that she is challenged with and has even begun orienting others now. She is recognized by her peers as a team player, and the Charge Nurses know they can count on her. Patient feedback indicates that she is calm, supportive, and compassionate with her care.
Thank you, Johanna, for the care you provide our patients and the support you give your peers.
