John has exemplified excellence and transformational leadership qualities. He is a constant fixture in our department especially when we are in need of extra resources. I was helping another nurse with a patient who was being transfused due to hemorrhaging. We were out of blood transfusion tubings on the unit. I looked outside the patient's door and there was John asking if I needed assistance. I told him what I needed. John ran to the DOU to get the tubing and whatever else we needed. He is a joy to work with because he updates nurses on any changes or plans for the shift. He values your opinions and suggestions and makes you feel like a team member, not just somebody getting directions. He's very objective with any issues that arise in the unit. There was a particular time when John sat and actively listened to family members' concerns and was constantly following up with the family afterward. In the meantime, he ensured that the nurses' concerns were heard as well. John is a true embodiment of a nurse leader and I am fortunate and blessed to be working with him. I would like to recognize John for all the great things he does and to let him know that he is a blessing to us.
