John again gathered all the belongings and loaded them in the patient’s wife’s car and then he actually drove the patient’s wife home, followed by a chaplain to bring him back to the hospital.
Nomination #1: John is an excellent nurse and educator. In one particular event, a code was called on one of John's divisions. He immediately went to the floor and spent hours there. The patient was transferred to a higher level of care but unfortunately did not survive. The patient's wife was extremely distraught and alone. They have no family in town. John went above and beyond to ensure she got home safely. He facilitated her transportation home as she was too devastated to drive. John made sure everyone was ok, staff and the patient's wife included. A true example of an extraordinary nurse!

Nomination #2: I just wanted to mention that John was so much help this morning during our code, he was a runner during the code for us which was so helpful being the code lasted about 20 minutes. John also assisted with gathering the patient’s belongings and taking them to the ICU. The patient, unfortunately, coded again and passed away. John again gathered all the belongings and loaded them in the patient’s wife’s car and then he actually drove the patient’s wife home, followed by a chaplain to bring him back to the hospital. He is so helpful and compassionate. He is an asset to St. Luke’s. John is always there to help no matter what.

Note: This is John's second DAISY Award!
