December 2023 Honoree
Johnette Morse, RN, CMSRN
Johnette goes above and beyond for patient safety and values. She and a coworker went above and beyond for a patient that they cared for. The patient was hospitalized and they took the time to listen to their patient’s worries that were bothering them that day. After listening, they realized that the patient’s family member was endangered and that they had to help the patient act on it. They quickly gathered their thoughts and encouraged the patient to call 911 for a wellness check. The paramedics were called to the scene, and the family member was brought to the hospital. Minutes later, after the family member was in the Emergency room receiving care, the family member went unconscious, was sent to the ICU, and is now intubated. While this story is heartbreaking, if they had not insisted on convincing their patient to call 911 for their family member, they would not have received the required care. It only took a few hours to save another life.
Thank you, Johnette, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
