Joseph did research, ordered, and delivered the keyboard to the patient.
We have a patient who is being worked up for Lung Transplantation and on ECMO since the end of September. The patient has had an incredibly difficult recovery and has had to relearn how to walk and perform his activities of daily living. This long road to recovery that he is still walking has been hard and the patient was becoming discouraged despite improvements in his clinical condition.
Joseph found out that the patient learned to play the piano when he was 17 and regularly plays for his church. He brought this to the attention of our team and together we donated funds to purchase a keyboard that the patient could use to practice and play while he is here in the hospital. Joseph did research, ordered, and delivered the keyboard to the patient. The surprise and joy that the patient experienced were beautiful and heartwarming. Not only did this gift help the patient and his family, but it also uplifted our entire team. Acts like this inspire hope and can transform the culture of a unit and potentially an organization.
