Joyce is very creative at the holiday times - whether it is Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas. She makes each patient a card, Easter eggs or a small gift for each RN to give to their patients that holiday. She goes above and beyond for our patients that stay on the floor for weeks at a time by making large cards for all of the staff to sign. She gives it to the patients just to see them smile at least once while they are here in the hospital. Joyce is very deserving of the DAISY award. ... A patient said Joyce was the best nurse she has ever had in any hospital stay, she was "beyond wonderful". She also stated that all of the nursing staff on the unit was wonderful, but Joyce was outstanding. ... Another family member called the Vice President complementing Joyce. She stated that Joyce did an "outstanding job" and had "gone above and beyond". She gave the following examples: The patient lost his hearing aid battery and Joyce researched to find where a replacement battery could be found. He also lost a ring in surgery and Joyce began a search to recover the ring, making phone calls and getting the Patient Advocate involved. ... The family noted Joyce "made it better for us when we could not be there", stating they lived several miles away. She talked about the comfort they had knowing they were leaving their brother in good hands when they couldn't be here all the time. Joyce was very good to "answer questions and explain stuff". They wanted to formally compliment her.
