Judy Melton was very attentive to my needs with routine check-ins and thorough discussions about my care plan and condition. I valued her professionalism and she honestly reminded me of traditional nurses from my childhood. They always reminded me of angels in their all-white uniforms floating over a patient with healing hands. One of her most genuine qualities was the way she delivered my meds - "May I please give you a shot in your belly?" I would certainly never tell her "no", but this method still allows a patient to feel empowered in their care.
However, my most important kudo to Ms. Judy is her "surprise" for my daughter. Unfortunately, my stay was prolonged through my daughter's 12th birthday on August 25. When my daughter and family arrived to have cake and a small celebration in my room Judy arranged a group serenade by all the nursing staff to surprise her and sing "Happy Birthday". It was a bright moment for her and took her away from the hospital scene and made it about her and her special day. I have a cute video of the award-winning performance!
