To those who might have heard of Julie Locascio, know her as the Surgery Clinic nurse manager. To the individuals who know Julie professionally and work with Julie every day, know she is so much more. Julie stepped into the Surgery Clinic nurse manager role two years ago. Over the past two years, there have been multiple thoughts of change for improvement. Julie has turned these thoughts into actions. The numbers on the huddle board continue to improve each week! Her role as a nurse manager does not stop her from jumping in to check-in patients, clean patient rooms, triage phone calls, provide patient care, and is available to any assistance she can provide. She is always prepared, present, and full of advice to offer unexpected patient questions, personal concerns, thoughts, and ideas. Do you know those people who always have the best advice for any and every situation? That is Julie. She did not hesitate the day she drove me home from work due to unexpected car problems. Oh, and the gracious offers of transportation to and from work on inclement weather days.
Julie, the time, effort, support, and drive you have provided the Surgery Clinic does not go unnoticed. Even now being in the float pool, I still feel a part of the Surgery Clinic and enjoy watching the success and growth of the Surgery Clinic every day. Thank you for being an Extraordinary Nurse manager!

Julie excels at making sure Surgery Clinic has an enjoyable and positive work environment. She goes out of her way to put her employees first while always having the patient's best interest at heart. Being a member of the STP committee, I get to see weekly how she strives to make the clinic the best it possibly can be and how much she truly cares about Surgery Clinic. She very much so cares about her staff. She is easy to talk to and does a fantastic job acknowledging our accomplishments whether it's work-related or in our personal life. She is a great leader and a very positive influence to have in our clinic.

Julie takes a lot of pride in her work as a clinic manager and it shows in her everyday actions. She always tries to acknowledge and reward her staff with the work that is done in our clinics. As a clinic manager, she is very approachable and makes her staff feel they can come to her with any concerns or questions without judgment. She always tries her best to accommodate employee requests and meet our needs. She never asks the staff to do something she is not willing to do herself and always pitches in when needed to ensure the clinic is continuing to run as efficiently as possible. She is a true example of what makes a great leader.

Julie goes over and above to make this an amazing clinic to work in. She is positive and kind in her interactions with staff and families. She has pitched in and answered phones when we were understaffed, she has manned the resource phone when necessary, I have even watched her room patients. Things I have rarely seen other managers willing to do, and she does it with a smile on her face. She also is very accommodating to allow our staff to pursue certifications and advance their degrees. Most of our staff have gotten their certification and those who haven't, have been working on it. Several members of our clinic are working on their Masters including Julie herself. She truly walks the walk of leadership.

Julie leads by example. She will jump in to help clinic when needed and walks around to check in on staff daily. She is supportive of the staff's goals and encourages us to continue to reach our goals like certifications or pursuing higher education. Julie is very approachable and will listen to concerns without judgment. Julie is always professional and exhibits a true example of a great leader. I recently finished my MSN in Leadership/Management and strive to be the kind of leader Julie has been for me.

Julie is a great example of what a leader should be. I came from the adult inpatient world to work in the Surgery Clinic and have been very impressed. Julie not only says she is always available when needed, but she makes herself available. She is always ready to help and answer questions anytime even if she is trying to get out of here. Julie jumps in when things are getting busy and does it with a smile. She is passionate and strives to keep improving this clinic.

Julie is the true example of a transformational leader. She takes ideas that are brought to her, listens to them, processes them, involves necessary stakeholders, implements them, and shares credit where credit is due. This helps create a better TEAM environment, promotes staff involvement, and helps improve processes for the betterment of our clinics, providers, staff, and most of all our patients. Julie is a hard worker and maintains a high level of professionalism at all times. She has high expectations of her staff and holds all accountable to a certain level of service excellence which in turn helps build our team dynamics. She is very approachable, provides sound feedback and thoughts towards growth and innovation while maintaining respect for those with historical information and knowledge base. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our clinics which shows when she jumps in to take a call, room a patient, assist with a code or calm an upset parent. She is a great role model to other leaders across services and serves as an excellent mentor for all of us as well. Simply the best manager I have ever worked under and so happy to be in this arena with her! Thanks, Julie!
