Julie McFarland, BSN, RN
The care Julie McFarland showed my mom for three weeks at ECH can never be matched. The first day I brought my mom into the emergency room, Julie spent 5 hours, NON-STOP, caring for her.
Every macro detail and micro detail was taken care of. Julie became my “navigator” over the next three weeks, caring for my mom every step of the way.
My mom was a well-loved nurse manager of PACU for many years and was Julie’s preceptor back in 1986. Julie reached out to all my mom’s former colleagues and created an end-of-life celebration for my mom with our family and her work family.
Julie created an environment where my mom was safe, pain-free, and able to have her dignity intact. Julie stayed proactive in keeping my mom happy and comfortable daily.
Having Julie coordinate with other nurses and doctors on my behalf allowed my mom to receive the best care anyone could ask for.
This award could easily be named “The Julie McFarland Award for Extraordinary Nurses.” She is a true DAISY Nurse.
