Justin embodies what it means to provide compassionate care. He continuously extends himself to patients, families, and co-workers. He goes into every room when the [call] light rings and offers assistance to the patients and family. He never says, “That is not my patient,” and he never shies away from a difficult situation or complex patients.

Justin is known to go above and beyond to comfort his patients. In one example, Justin helped a homeless patient who had no family. She was scared and defensive. Justin purchased puzzle books and coloring books for the patient. Through his gentle kindness, the patient became calm, and cooperative, and apologized for her earlier behavior. Many patients have written letters of appreciation acknowledging the difference Justin made during their hospitalization.

Co-workers affirm that Justin is their go-to person. He is polite, professional, and team-spirited. He will come in to work whenever needed, and he will pick up additional shifts or switch shifts if it will help a colleague. Leaders and staff heartily agree that Justin is an asset to the floor and to St. Francis.
