As I sat at the bedside of my adult son, D, with down syndrome and a hole in his heart, I was feeling afraid and alone. The entire nursing team was exceptional, but Justin stood out. He made sure that D was cared for every minute. Even after his 12-hour shift, he made sure to come in to see if everything was tended to. Since I am D’s legal guardian, I was able to stay with him for the 7 days and 7 nights he was there. The situation was bad and I felt so upset and scared for my son, but Justin made sure that he had everything he needed, and made sure I had a little comfort too: a blanket and a pillow, and even a cup of juice. I feel that Justin went above and beyond in compassion and care, and I was surprised to learn he was a nurse for only a few years and in his early 20s. You have a great nurse in the making with endless energy and care for his patients. Thank you, Justin!
