He made sure to explain every part of the process and often paused to just listen and empathize with how difficult this was for the family.
One of my family members was admitted to ICU after cardiac arrest with an evident poor prognosis on admission. Justin was the ICU nurse who admitted him and worked with him throughout the hospitalization. I work in healthcare and can confidently say that Justin was very clinically strong and a great patient advocate but his excellence goes far beyond that.
The compassion and patience he displayed to my other family members during this tragedy was remarkable. He made sure to explain every part of the process and often paused to just listen and empathize with how difficult this was for the family. Justin advocated for brain death testing, which helped our family grasp the inevitable but did so in a way that made everyone feel included and respected. Justin exemplifies what it means to be a ICU nurse and I am so grateful that he was there taking care of ALL of my family during this time.
