On Thursday, I went to see my doctor for my weekly appointment (36 weeks) and soon found out that I had to be admitted to Women's Center and be induced due to my fluid levels being low. I was immediately nervous/in shock; I was thinking that I still had 3 weeks left! I was in tears! Upon arrival to my room, I was so nervous. This is where I met Kandi. She was smiling, very kind, and reassuring. She immediately calmed my nerves and explained everything to me in detail. She was also awesome in keeping me posted ahead of time of the plan. Kandi was very attentive and always made sure I was comfortable. You could tell that she takes her time with her patients to make every one of them feel special and she always had a smile on her face no matter what. At the end of my first night, she reassured me that she would be back the next day.
On Friday, Kandi took care of me for a second day. The previous night had been rough due to me having an allergic reaction. Again on this day, Kandi watched me closely and kept my pain under control. Despite the medications, it was apparent that I was more than likely going to have to have a c-section which was my worse fear! I immediately was filled with anxiety due to the talk of surgery and that this would be taking place at/right after shift change. Kandi calmed my nerves by staying with me in my room and having a long talk with me and hearing me out. Then she even offered to stay late and see me off to surgery if need be. This meant the world to me and it spoke volumes about her. She was very sincere and caring. Of course I told her that it was Friday night and that she needed to get home to her family and babies especially after a long 12 hour shift. I told her how much I appreciated her.
Kandi is such a wonderful nurse! She deserves the very best and the Women's Hospital should be honored to have her working for them! Any patient would be lucky to have her taking care of them! She was an answer to my prayers and I'm so thankful that God put her in my path!
