Karen was my LC when I had my daughter. Karen was there from day one helping me breastfeed my baby. One day, there was a misunderstanding by my nurse regarding my meds. I was in severe pain and my nurse kept telling me that I would "just have to wait". I was crying in pain. Karen was in the room when the nurse told me this. She patiently waited on my nurse to leave so she could discuss the issue in private.
Once the nurse left, I was able to tell Karen what was going on and explain that I am a nurse as well and I had discussed my orders with my physician and knew that the nurse was confused. Karen went above and beyond to talk with the charge nurse and get the issue resolved. I was able to take my medicine the way it was ordered.
Karen came back to check on me and continued to check on me throughout my stay. She even checked on me and the baby at our hospital follow-up. I thank Karen for recognizing my pain and for going out of her way to fix the situation.
