Karen supports the staff on 3W in so many ways. Karen assists the nurses with studying and preparing them to become chemotherapy certified. She is the sole educator for the chemo population for both patients and staff. She often stays at the bedside, monitoring patients while they are actively receiving chemo. Karen displays an enormous amount of support to the staff, and her dedication is immeasurable. As an educator, Karen is kind, humble, and patient. She is truly a role model of nursing care excellence. She dedicates herself to the professional development of her staff as well as the Ambulatory care team. What is most special is her partnership with oncologists to ensure that patients are receiving the most appropriate regimen. Karen stands out as a mentor, educator, and, most importantly, an approachable leader willing to give herself time and time again to build the team and provide the best care to our patients. I remember the time I was becoming chemo-certified. Karen dedicated countless hours to support me. She helped me take my test and answered all my questions patiently. She is truly a gem and deserves recognition as an incredible leader in this organization.
