My husband, R, was admitted to the CVICU due to COVID. He was in isolation for 21 days and I could not visit. While getting a phone update from S, I explained how hard it was not to see him. She put me on hold and talked to the nurse supervisor. She gained permission for me to come in and see him through the glass doors. I was crying with joy to see him. It was the last time he would be able to see me. Kari took her cell phone into his room while on the ventilator. He was sedated and still in isolation. She took her phone in for two days, called me, and put it on speaker so he could hear my voice.

When R was out of isolation, the first nurse I saw was Kari, she was kind and caring. R passed away 3 days later. S was on duty when he passed, although not his nurse. She came to me and held me and allowed me to cry. Both ladies are true examples of the loving spirit of a nurse. They carry out your spiritual mission very well. The entire staff on the CVICU was amazing. They were kind, gentle, and caring, and gave R the best medical care while also caring for me.
