Kate delivered the utmost compassionate care during one of the hardest times of my life. On June 4th, I had to be taken back to the OR for a D&C procedure because my baby had a condition that was not compatible with life. This was my third loss of the year, and I was at one of the lowest points of my life having to say goodbye to another baby. We had to travel to Madison because my home hospital was unable to do the procedure, and to say that I was terrified was an understatement. I worked in the OR, and the last thing I wanted to do was go back for a procedure in a place where I knew no one. Kate came into my Pre-op room with a warm demeanor and expressed her sympathies to my husband and me. She sat beside my bed and talked to me like I was more than just her next patient going back. I appreciated her humor and attentiveness during this difficult time. All of the staff I encountered during my surgery was phenomenal and I am very grateful for the experience that I had, even if it was one of the hardest days of my life. Even though as an OR nurse you usually only see your patients for a few minutes before they’re asleep, those few minutes meant a lot to me and Kate and the team kept me at ease. So, thank you for the wonderful care, it did not go unnoticed.
