Katerina Karnas, RN

I am nominating Katerina Karnas for The DAISY Award because of her impeccable leadership skills. She has a tendency of listening to all of her staff. She is not only a manager who makes sure her staff’s needs are met to the best of her ability, but she is also present in many ways. One great example is when Ascension’s systems were hacked. Even though the whole hospital was in disarray, as a leader, Katerina walked us through all the changes. Although all the nurses and nursing staff were overwhelmed with these changes, she kept her cool and guided us. She encouraged us to “take it one step at a time”. She exhibits leadership in every category. She promotes a conducive environment. She works well with everyone including staff and management and interdisciplinary teams overall. Katerina is truly a great asset to Ascension.
