She was godsent in a moment where I felt I was at my most vulnerable and weak. I could not believe how much her energy transferred to me.
Where do I begin? I gave birth 4 weeks ago, and in the back of my mind, I have been telling myself to find the time to write this review about this amazing nurse. So here I am, breast pumping at 2 am with my newborn, writing this nomination.
There are angels in heaven watching us, and then there are L&D nurses, aka angels, walking on this earth. Katherine is one of them. Let me tell you, this was my first born, and initially, upon pushing, I remember saying under my breath, “I don’t think I can do this.” My nurse, along with my favorite doctor in the world, immediately shut that thought down and encouraged me. Katherine was an absolute CHEERLEADER during my labor and honestly had it not been for her and my amazing team that was there, I would not have pushed that baby out in 30 minutes. She was godsent in a moment where I felt I was at my most vulnerable and weak. I could not believe how much her energy transferred to me. Towards the end of my labor, I found myself so encouraged to the point where I said “I can do this, I CAN do this!” And boom I pushed as hard as I could, gave it everything I got and voila my 9lb baby was out. I would absolutely give birth in this hospital again. I could write a novel about my experience here and the kindness I received from all the staff, specifically Katherine.
Honestly all the nurses I encountered were kind, but truly I will never forget Katherine’s empathy that day. She stood out by far and you can tell she loves what she does. I hope she knows how much her patients appreciate her!
