Kate showed extraordinary compassion and exemplary communication skills when I was admitted for blood pressure and fetal heart monitoring during my pregnancy. She was kind and caring and thoroughly explained what was being done to monitor me and what they were looking for to be able to release me. She took the time to get to know me and was genuinely interested in what I had to say.
Kate was my nurse my first night in the hospital. On Tuesday I delivered my babies, she patiently answered all of my questions as well as my husband's. She showed us the easiest way to get to see each baby and offered to push me there in my wheelchair. She went above and beyond her nursing care duties and really spent time with us to make sure that we were situated and comfortable.
The next night, Kate was not assigned to me, but she still stopped in before her shift began to see how I was doing. She listened compassionately as I sobbed about a friend who had passed away suddenly. She empathized and offered me appropriate counseling services. She was such an awesome nurse and I appreciated her support when she was both on/off duty.
