Kathy went above and beyond the call of duty with a long-term patient we had in ICU. This patient was healthy before he had a complicated bowel perforation. He endured multiple life-changing surgeries, many complications, and nearly died more than once. He was with us for over a month before he was finally transferred to Salt Lake. He had mentioned to Kathy that he "wanted to see the sun" and she made sure to make it happen. The next day, she wrangled all of his monitors and oxygen and pumps, etc, lifted him into a cardiac chair, snagged a helper and wheeled him outside. He got to enjoy the fresh air and the sunshine on his face before having another CT. It was a huge undertaking with the amount of stuff he had going on, and she did not let that limit her from making the patient's wish come true. She, of course, had a great attitude about it and made it happen. He was very grateful. It was a great thing.
