Katie was with us the last night of our father’s life after he was admitted to the ICU. Throughout his three-year-long sickness, we met countless medical professionals, and Katie was by far the exceptional among them. She is everything a nurse should be: compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, considerate and skillful. We are so glad we were lucky enough that she was assigned to his room that night. She explained the entire process and was prepared ahead of time to order the necessary supplies and was not even bothered by the large number of visitors in the room which necessarily affected the ease of her work. She did her job and did it well. It was obvious that she loved her job. I wish all nurses were like Katie. She went out of her way to make us comfortable. She gave us comfort and ease on the hardest night of our lives. I could write about her for pages. Please honor her.
