The Birth Center’s dedication to personalized care truly embodies what it means to be an Extraordinary Nurse.
The patient family member noted how each nurse was friendly, professional, and attentive to his family member. When looking at the nurses over the years with the DAISY award we noted that 8 nurses from this area have been nominated over 13 times. And the manager has been nominated at least 3 times. One of my favorite quotes from the Disney movie “Remembering the Titans” is “Attitude reflects leadership,” and for our DAISY Award recipients this is very true! Katie Kufahl the Birth Center Manager is our DAISY Honoree.

As the family member that nominated the nurses pointed out, “The Onaga Community Hospital should be proud of these nurses, and we will not forget their kindness and professionalism. Thank you!”

As manager of the Birth Center for the past 16 years, Katie Kufahl has trained nurses to provide the best possible care during a joyful but vulnerable time for new moms and babies. The Birth Center’s dedication to personalized care truly embodies what it means to be an Extraordinary Nurse. Through Katie's leadership, these nurses keep everyone calm and comfortable and help families through one of life’s most significant periods, and as we look back on the difficulties of the last two years with COVID-19, we see that welcoming new lives has helped re-energize all of us and help us remember the joys of nursing.
