Katie is definition of what every nurse should be-kind, compassionate, comforting, encouraging, and accepting. She treats each individual patient based on their needs, wants, and skills to make sure that the best outcome is met with every patient.
She can consistently be observed going out of her way to support her nursing staff, therapists, and other hospital colleagues in any way possible. Whether it be assisting with transferring a patient, ordering a special request for a patient, discussing concerns immediately with physicians, or volunteering to complete extra tasks to lighten the load of co-workers-she does it all!
In addition, she leads her nursing team as the charge nurse-being a role model each and every day with all of her patients of what excellent nursing care should be.
Finally, her knowledge and skill of nursing topics and care is exceptional, and she is more than willing to assist coworkers by sharing her wisdom.
As her colleague, I have the most respect for Katie as a nurse, a leader, a care provider, and as a team member. I feel honored to work with such a talented nurse. She highly deserves this award, as Katie lives and demonstrates all the values of this DAISY Award in all that she does!
